Stephanie V. McLean
Ms. McLean is a family law lawyer, a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and a vocal advocate for advancing women’s equality. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary in 2012. In her solo practice, and then as partner at Gosselin-Tardif McLean LLP, she practiced family law with a focus on high-conflict parenting litigation, restraining orders, and appeals.
In 2015, Ms. McLean was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as the MLA representing Calgary Varsity. During her years in office, she held two Cabinet positions. As Minister of Service Alberta, Ms. McLean worked to overhaul consumer protection legislation. As Minister of Status of Women, she worked to improve women’s economic security, to increase women’s participation in leadership roles and the democratic process, and to eliminate and prevent violence against women – with a focus on domestic violence and intimate partner violence.
Since leaving office, Ms. McLean has returned to her law career and relocated to Victoria with her husband, toddler, and two dogs. She is an avid reader of memoirs, a novice knitter, and volunteers with The Cridge Centre for the Family.
